Purple Chinese Dragon

Dragons are mythical magical beasts often portrayed as large snake like serpents. Most Dragons have clawed feet, but some do not. Some Dragons, especially western European Dragons have leathery bat type wings and can fly. In the east Chinese Dragons have clawed feet, usually with five claws but no wings. Almost all known Dragons can breath and spit fire. They are also well known for their longevity and some of them can even talk. Being reptilian Dragons are hatched from eggs and have spines, horns and scaled bodies with the ocassional feather. Dragons typically have large yellow or red eyes and this is the source of the word for Dragon in many cultures.
Purple Horned Dragon

Western European Dragons are almost always portrayed as violent and aggressive and are the traditional foe of the gallant Knights in shining armor. However there are some exceptions to this negative portrayal with some Dragons serving as mascots. The eastern Chinese Dragon is almost always portrayed as benevolent and of great spiritual significance with the five clawed Chinese Dragon serving as a symbol of the Chinese Emperors.
